Peguis, OCN to clash in KJHL Playoffs

Another Keystone Junior Hockey League regular season is in the books. Peguis Juniors (18-13-1) finished in third place, three points back of the OCN Storm (20-12-0). It’s the same position both teams found themselves last season when Peguis eliminated the Storm in five games of their semifinal series.

Games 1 and 2 of the best-of seven series are scheduled for March 14 and 15 to be hosted by the Storm. The series will move to Peguis the following weekend for Games 3 and 4.

Players to watch for include Bryson Werbicki-Mallet who finished as third leading scorer in the KJHL with 89 points, Noah Butler (62 points), Chavez Constant (57 points) and Keith Monias (45 points).

OCN will need to contain the Juniors duo of Tyrome Spence and Ethan Daniels who finished 1-2 in league scoring. With 121 points Spence nearly doubled his point total from last season scoring 74 goals and 47 assists in 25 games played. Daniels led the league in assists with 65 while scoring 32 goals.

Quinton Flett (13 goals, 43 assists) and Darian Murdock (14 goals, 31 assists) also provided offense for Peguis who averaged 6.59 goals per game.

Goaltending may prove key in the series as both teams have proven they can score. 11-game winner Drey Flett (5.44 GAA, .844 save%) and Nolan Favel (5.82 GAA, .844 save%) man the pipes for Peguis.

The Storm have Braxton Constant (5.23 GAA, .845 save%) and Seth Ningeongan who joined the team in January.
